The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The grey-headed flying fox has a paler head, a darker body and a reddish collar. It navigates mainly by sight and smell. Large eyes help it move in dim light. It has no tail, and its wings consist of membranes stretched between elongated fingers.
It lives in colonies and visits trees supplying fruit and flowers at night. In doing so it supports pollination and seed dispersal. Food resources change as plants flower and fruit, so feeding sites need not remain constant.
When resting the animals hang from branches and cover their bodies with their wing membranes. Tree loss restricts access to both shelter and food.
25,3 cm: średnia długość głowy i ciała z ADW; zakres 23–28,9 cm.
