Green tree python — size comparison — facts and sources

The green tree python (Morelia viridis) is an arboreal constrictor of New Guinea and northern Australia. It inhabits tropical forests. The green colour of adults blends with tropical foliage. A prehensile tail helps anchor the body to a branch while the front portion can strike rapidly at passing prey.

Adults usually wait on branches with their bodies arranged in characteristic coils. Young may be yellow or reddish before changing colour. It eats small mammals, reptiles and birds.

The female lays eggs and coils around them.

Tekst ADW podaje 1,5 m.
