The goitered gazelle uses steppes, semi-deserts and dry mountain foothills. Plant resources are unevenly distributed across the extensive landscape. Seasonal changes may force movements between places offering fresh growth and shelter from the weather.
Its diet includes grasses, herbs and salt-tolerant plants. It also obtains water from food, and plant choice depends on availability.
It lives in small groups that may periodically combine into larger gatherings. During breeding males compete and maintain territories. Outside the breeding season herd composition may change, with movements linked to vegetation availability.
