The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The bog turtle (Glyptemys muhlenbergii) is a small turtle of eastern United States bogs and shallow wetlands. It uses shallow wet ground with sedge tussocks. A dark shell and small body allow concealment among wetland vegetation.
It basks for long periods on cold days and hides in vegetation or substrate during heat. An orange neck patch identifies it.
It eats small invertebrates, plants and sometimes small vertebrates. It overwinters beneath shallow water or in submerged shelters. Some individuals defend small areas against rivals.
