Giant pangolin — size comparison — facts and sources
The giant pangolin inhabits humid lowland forests and forest–savanna mosaics in Africa. It is the largest living pangolin. Overlapping scales cover its body and consist of keratin, the same protein as fingernails. Soft skin on the belly and muzzle may be paler than the scales.
It eats ants and termites, collecting them with a long, sticky tongue. Capable digging helps it reach their nests. It usually lives alone and searches for food at night.
