Giant guitarfish — size comparison — facts and sources

The giant guitarfish is a bottom-associated cartilaginous fish of the Indo-Pacific. A flattened front body and long snout lead into a powerful, shark-like tail. The head and pectoral-fin outline gave rise to the English name “guitarfish”.

It lives in shallow bays, estuaries and coastal waters. It eats bottom-dwelling fish, crustaceans and molluscs. Close association with the bottom and frequent use of coastal fishing grounds make it vulnerable to net bycatch.
