Geoffroy's marmoset uses lowland Atlantic forests in Brazil. It is active by day, moving over trunks and branches. Group living combines shared travel, rest and recognition of places regularly supplying food.
Tree sap is an important dietary component. It also eats fruit, nectar and invertebrates according to availability. Specialised teeth help access plant secretions. Small feeding sites may be revisited repeatedly, and the group benefits from knowing its surroundings.
The mother, males and older siblings share care of young. Help carrying offspring allows the female more feeding time. Calls and mutual grooming maintain bonds. Females often bear twins, and older offspring may remain in the group to help with subsequent young.
