Gayal (mithun) — size comparison — facts and sources

The gayal, also called mithun, is a large bovid of mountain forests in South and Southeast Asia. Its origins are linked to the gaur and domestication. It has a substantial body and powerful horns.

It eats grasses, leaves, young shoots and bamboo. In many places animals forage freely in forests while belonging to families or villages. Mithun are important in local economies and traditions; this management combines natural forest feeding with human care.

Często swobodnie żeruje w lesie i wraca do osad.
