The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The Galápagos giant tortoise profile represents a complex of closely related giant tortoises from the Ecuadorian archipelago. Different islands have their own populations, with differences in shell form and living conditions.
These tortoises occupy dry cactus lowlands as well as wetter, grassy highlands. They are herbivores, feeding on grasses, leaves, fruit and parts of cacti. Mostly active by day, they move slowly between feeding areas and may make seasonal movements as food and moisture availability change.
Galapagos Conservation Trust podaje przeciętny rozmiar około 1,5 m, średnią masę około 250 kg i rekordy do 400 kg.
