The Senegal bushbaby inhabits wooded savannas and scrub south of the Sahara. It has dense grey or brown fur, huge eyes and mobile ears. Long hindlimbs power leaps, while a hairy tail provides balance.
It feeds at night, often alone, although daytime resting sites may be shared. Sheltered branch forks, hollows and dense vegetation provide refuges. Food changes seasonally: small animals are caught when insects are available, while tree gums are used during drought. Calls and scent provide communication.
