Fat-tailed dwarf lemur — size comparison — facts and sources

The fat-tailed dwarf lemur lives in Madagascar’s seasonally dry forests. It is active at night and rests in sheltered tree sites. Its annual rhythm depends strongly on seasonal food availability.

It eats chiefly fruit, supplemented by flowers and small invertebrates. Before reduced-activity periods it stores fat, particularly in the tail, whose thickness changes with condition.

During shortages it may enter prolonged torpor in a tree hollow. In the favourable season it feeds actively and reproduces.
