The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The domestic water buffalo has helped people cultivate land for centuries, particularly in wet Asian areas. On many farms it worked in rice cultivation and transport, while its milk remains an important food resource. River and swamp populations are distinguished, with differing histories of use and breeding.
It uses grasses and other forage plants. In hot climates it readily rests in water or mud, helping regulate temperature. The herd's daily rhythm depends on grazing, feeding times and farm conditions.
Females care for calves that grow up in the herd. Animal characteristics differ between regions and breeding purposes. Buffalo remain important to many small farms, supplying milk and draught power.
