The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The dibatag inhabits dry plains of the Horn of Africa. It selects sandy areas with scattered thorny shrubs and grasses. Vegetation provides food and cover. On detecting danger it may freeze behind a shrub and watch with its long neck and head projecting above the plants.
It feeds mainly on leaves and young shoots of shrubs and trees. Its long neck helps reach branches; while feeding it can also brace its forelimbs against a plant. In this dry environment it uses food moisture and can function with very limited open water.
Solitary individuals and small groups occur. Males mark occupied areas with urine, dung and gland secretions. In disputes they push with their horns. The female usually gives birth to one calf.
