The grizzled tree-kangaroo inhabits tropical forests of northern and western New Guinea. It has grey-brown fur, dark ears and a long tail. Strong arms and claws help it climb trunks and hold branches. The tail provides counterbalance and support but is not prehensile.
It rests on strong horizontal branches. It feeds on leaves, fruit and soft bark. Information about its social organisation remains limited. On the ground it moves less proficiently than typical terrestrial kangaroos.
