The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The corn snake (Pantherophis guttatus) is a non-venomous constrictor of the eastern United States. It inhabits forests, field edges and places with cover. Dark-bordered blotches mark an orange or brown background.
A slender body permits entry into crevices and burrows, making rodent shelters important feeding sites. It subdues prey by constriction and swallows it whole. It climbs plants capably.
It chiefly eats rodents, also taking birds and other small animals. Females lay eggs in sheltered places.
