Coquerel’s sifaka — size comparison — facts and sources

Coquerel's sifaka lives in dry deciduous forests of northwestern Madagascar. It spends most of its time in trees and leaps between them. It sometimes must descend to reach the next canopy patch, hopping on its hindlimbs with its arms used for balance.

Its food includes young and mature leaves, flowers, fruit, seeds and bark. Selected plants change seasonally. Feeding alternates with rest, and an extensive digestive tract helps it use fibrous food.

It forms family groups and maintains bonds through mutual grooming and play. Females usually have feeding priority and dominate males. Males change groups more often.
