The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The common warthog is an African pig of savannas, grassland plains and open scrub. It has relatively tall legs, a broad flattened head, skin growths and curved tusks. It feeds on grasses, roots and tubers, occasionally taking small animals.
When cropping short grass it may rest its forequarters on the wrists. Females form family groups, while males are more often solitary. The raised tail is conspicuous during escape.
It enters burrows backwards, allowing defence of the entrance with head and tusks. Skin is sparsely haired, with a long mane along the neck and back.
