Common brown lemur — size comparison — facts and sources

The common brown lemur inhabits forest habitats in Madagascar. Older works grouped with it forms now recognised as separate species. It moves on all four limbs in the canopy and leaps between branches. Its tail helps maintain balance while travelling.

It eats mainly fruit, young leaves and flowers. It searches for food in different parts of the canopy, adjusting its choice of plants to seasonal availability.

It lives in groups containing males, females and young. Compared with many other lemurs it does not show equally pronounced female dominance. Group size varies with local conditions.
