Cobia — size comparison — facts and sources

The cobia uses many warm Atlantic and Indo-Pacific habitats, from mangroves to reefs and open waters. It is encountered around buoys, pilings and drifting objects.

It may form small groups and chase small pelagic fish. It also eats crabs, other crustaceans and squid. Adults have a forked tail, and their elongated bodies allow efficient travel between prey concentrations.
