The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The Chinese water dragon (Physignathus cocincinus) inhabits Southeast Asia's humid forests. Its tail helps balance on vegetation and propels it after a leap into water.
An agile branch climber and strong swimmer, it may drop from a tree into water and hide below the surface when disturbed. It eats invertebrates, small vertebrates, eggs and plant foods.
Males and females signal intentions with head and forelimb movements. A group may include a male and several females. Females lay eggs; hatchlings already have long tails assisting movement. The tail accounts for most of total length, and females are slightly smaller than males.
