The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The cheetah is a slender, long-legged cat of open African landscapes, with a small Asian population in Iran. Solid black spots and dark lines running from the eyes towards the muzzle distinguish it. It inhabits savannas, dry plains and semi-desert scrub.
It mainly hunts small and medium-sized antelopes and hares. After stalking, it makes a short, fast pursuit. The tail helps maintain balance during rapid turns, and the animal needs to rest after intense exertion.
Females usually live alone and raise their cubs without males. Males may form lasting coalitions, often with brothers. Cheetahs differ from leopards in both build and coat pattern: their spots are solid rather than rosettes. Quiet calls and scent marking also play a part in their daily lives.
