Brown anole — size comparison — facts and sources

The brown anole (Anolis sagrei) is a small Caribbean lizard also found beyond its native range. It inhabits low vegetation, trunks and open sunny sites.

Toe pads allow use of vertical supports, although hunting perches are often lower than those of the green anole. It usually feeds near ground level by day. At night it chooses twigs of shrubs and small trees.

It also uses gardens, fences and building walls. It eats insects, other invertebrates and occasionally small lizards. Males display orange dewlaps, bob their heads and make push-up movements. Females lay single eggs at successive intervals, hiding them under litter or other cover.
