Southern muriqui — size comparison — facts and sources
Grey-yellowish fur and a dark face characterise the southern muriqui. It inhabits southeastern Brazil’s Atlantic Forest. A prehensile tail assists movement between branches, and feeding occurs in social groups.
It eats fruit, leaves, flowers and seeds according to seasonal availability. While travelling together, individuals may follow one another along the same branches. Both sexes participate socially, and females may leave natal groups.
