Bowmouth guitarfish — size comparison — facts and sources

The bowmouth guitarfish, Rhina ancylostoma, is a ray with a broad, rounded head and powerful sharklike tail. Large fins rise from its back, and pronounced skin ridges occur around the head. It inhabits the Indo-Pacific, usually over sand near reefs.

It searches the bottom for molluscs, crustaceans and fish. A broad mouth beneath the head allows feeding directly from the substrate. Individuals are usually encountered alone, moving slowly between feeding sites.
