The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The bongo is a forest antelope with a strong body and relatively short legs. It inhabits humid lowland forests, mountain forests and bamboo thickets. Pale vertical stripes cross its chestnut coat; large ears and a white mark between the eyes distinguish the head. Adult males darken with age, sometimes becoming deep brown.
It feeds on leaves, shoots, herbs, fruit and aquatic plants. Secretive in its habits, it forms small female-and-young groups. Pale stripes break up the body outline in light passing through the forest canopy.
