Blue shark — size comparison — facts and sources
The blue shark crosses open oceans from tropical to temperate zones. It has a slender body, bluish back and exceptionally long, pointed pectoral fins. It often occurs far offshore.
It eats small fish, including herring and sardines, as well as squid and other cephalopods. It makes long migrations, following water conditions and prey availability. Long fins help stabilise its body in the water column.
