The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The black rhinoceros, Diceros bicornis, inhabits savannas, scrub, dry woodland and semi-deserts in eastern and southern Africa. It has a heavy body, two horns and grey skin.
It mainly browses trees and shrubs. A mobile, grasping lip selects leaves, shoots and twigs from the vegetation. This differs from the white rhinoceros, whose broad mouth is adapted for grazing grass.
Usually solitary, it uses areas providing suitable food and water. Mud baths leave soil on the skin, making the animal look brown or noticeably paler.
