The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The melanistic leopard, Panthera pardus, commonly called a black panther, has a very dark coat. Its rosettes remain present but are easier to see in suitable light. Leopards inhabit forests, savannas, mountains and dry scrub in Africa and Asia.
Leopards usually live alone and often hunt at night. Daytime activity may be reduced near people. Prey may be stored in trees to protect it from other predators. Scent and calls communicate the presence of neighbours. Females raise the cubs, moving them between hiding places and gradually introducing them to independent hunting.
Samce ważą zwykle około 31–65 kg według Animal Diversity Web; oficjalna karta CITES podaje dla gatunku do 80 kg i 50–70 cm w barku.
