Cephalophorus nigrifrons
The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The black-fronted duiker inhabits wet forests, waterlogged hollows and forest clearings in Africa. It often uses areas that other duikers avoid because of soggy ground. It swims well and may head for water when fleeing. It also selects drier, sheltered forest patches for resting.
It feeds by day, often entering wet meadows in the morning and towards evening. It eats leaves and other plant parts. It can rise on its hind legs to reach hanging lichens.
It may form lasting pairs. Preorbital gland secretions and dung mark the occupied area. When disturbed it whistles and seeks cover.
