The tiger whiptail (Aspidoscelis tigris) is an active lizard of United States and Mexican deserts and scrub. It uses areas with loose ground. A long tail and slender body suit an active ground-level life.

By day it searches actively, using chemical cues to detect hidden prey.

It eats insects, spiders and other small invertebrates. Females lay eggs. Burrows provide rest and refuge from unfavourable conditions. Older accounts call it Cnemidophorus tigris.
