The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The Arabian red fox (Vulpes vulpes arabica) is a subspecies of the red fox found on the Arabian Peninsula. It has a slender build, large ears and short, pale fur ranging from sandy to reddish brown. It should not be confused with the fennec or Rüppell’s fox. Its presence in Oman has also been documented around permanent settlements.
An opportunistic omnivore, it eats small animals, insects, fruit and carrion. It usually forages at night and shelters in dens during the heat. Its habitats include rocky areas, desert margins and landscapes altered by people. The measurements accompanying the illustration come from a regional account for Saudi Arabia; they are not measurements of an average fox from Oman. Both silhouettes are AI reconstructions.
