The northern chamois (Rupicapra rupicapra) is a mountain bovid of Europe and part of Western Asia. It inhabits alpine pastures, rocky slopes and mountain forests. Both sexes have short, hook-tipped horns, and dark head markings are among its identifying features.
It feeds on grasses, herbs and shoots. In summer it often uses high grasslands, while in winter it may descend closer to forest. Seasonal feeding-site changes allow use of vegetation in different mountain zones.
It lives in groups whose composition depends on sex and season. Broad hooves with a grippy, soft sole area help it maintain purchase on rock and snow. Rapid reactions and agility on steep terrain reduce predation risk.
Punkt około 75 cm odnosi się do wysokości opisanej w źródle: 70–80 cm w barku. Uszy, rogi i poroże są wyłączone z pomiaru.
