The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The Aldabra giant tortoise inhabits Aldabra Atoll in the Seychelles, using grassy plains, dry scrub and areas near mangroves. It has a high shell, strong legs and a long neck that reaches vegetation above the ground. It is among the largest living land tortoises.
Mainly active by day, it eats grasses, leaves, shoots and fruit. Strong jaws tear vegetation, and movements between feeding grounds take it across different parts of the island. During the hottest hours, it rests in shade, hollows or mud to reduce overheating.
Females lay eggs in nests dug in the ground. Hatchlings find food and shelter independently. These tortoises are exceptionally long-lived, with documented individuals exceeding a hundred years.
Nagasaki Biopark podaje około 55 cm wysokości pancerza i 1,3 m długości ciała.
