The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The cottonmouth (Agkistrodon piscivorus) is a venomous snake of southeastern United States wetlands. It inhabits marshes and river and lake margins.
It often stays near water and is usually solitary. When threatened it may raise its head and expose the pale interior of its mouth.
It eats fish, amphibians and other small animals. Males compete during breeding. Older species accounts also included populations now separated as Agkistrodon conanti.
