The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The African bullfrog (Pyxicephalus adspersus) is a large amphibian of southern African savannas and temporary pools in grassy landscapes.
During drought it buries itself and may surround its body with a protective mucus cocoon. Rain prompts emergence and rapid breeding in available standing water.
It eats invertebrates and small vertebrates. Males compete for breeding positions and call to females. A male may guard offspring and clear a route to deeper water as a pool dries. Adults may also eat tadpoles of their own species.
