Feathertail glider — size comparison — facts and sources

The feathertail glider's tail has two lateral rows of hairs, giving it a feather-like appearance. This small marsupial lives in forests and wooded areas of eastern Australia. It glides between supports and grips smooth surfaces with adhesive toe pads.

It feeds on plant exudates, nectar and small arthropods. The animals build spherical nests of leaves, bark and plant fibres, using sheltered places in trees. Observed aggregations need not be permanent family groups. When energy is scarce it can lower its body temperature and reduce activity, conserving the resources needed to survive unfavourable periods.
