Angelshark — size comparison — facts and sources
The angelshark is a strongly flattened shark of the eastern Atlantic and Mediterranean. Broad pectoral fins give it a ray-like appearance. Sandy-brown patches camouflage it against soft seabeds.
It ambushes prey while partly buried. It eats chiefly bottom-dwelling fish, including rays, as well as crustaceans and molluscs. When prey comes close, it abruptly lifts its front body and catches it with its broad mouth.
