The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The Indian mackerel lives in coastal Indo-Pacific waters. It has a silvery, streamlined body, green-blue back and dark spot at the pectoral-fin base. Rows of small finlets follow the second dorsal and anal fins.
It forms schools and feeds on plankton. It takes both phytoplankton and small drifting animals; larger individuals also use larger zooplankton. Concentrations of food influence school locations.
Długość całkowita (TL): od końca pyska do końca płetwy ogonowej. Punkt równy źródłowej długości zwykle spotykanej, nie średnia populacji. Widoki są ilustracjami o przybliżonych proporcjach.
