Firework jellyfish — size comparison — facts and sources
The firework jellyfish has a broad, delicate bell, radiating canals and many fine tentacles around the edge. Under underwater lights, it resembles an opening firework.
It is a small hydromedusa living in open water. MBARI observes it in Monterey Bay, often around a thousand metres below the surface. Its soft body changes shape easily, so preserved specimens may look different from freely swimming animals.
