Lumpfish — size comparison — facts and sources

The lumpfish has a short, rounded body covered in bony tubercles. Modified pelvic fins form a sucker attaching it to hard substrates. It occurs on both sides of the North Atlantic, including the North and Baltic seas.

Its food includes crustaceans, polychaetes, jellyfish, comb jellies and small fish. It moves towards coasts to breed. The male guards eggs until hatching, becoming more intensely coloured during this period.
