Atlantic wolffish — size comparison — facts and sources
The Atlantic wolffish lives in cold North Atlantic waters. It has an elongated body with dark crossbands and a large, rounded head. Its powerful teeth are conspicuous even with the mouth slightly open.
Near the bottom it seeks molluscs, crustaceans and echinoderms, crushing their hard coverings with its teeth. It also eats fish. This feeding apparatus allows use of prey protected by shells, armour or spines.
