The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The Teddy Roosevelt Terrier is a small, muscular dog with short legs and a slightly elongated body. It has smooth hair, usually with clear coloured patches on white. A strong head, mobile ears and an attentive gaze emphasise its terrier character. It is compact and agile, with a build allowing rapid changes of direction.
It descends from American farm terriers that controlled rodents and guarded premises. The Rat Terrier developed from the same tradition. The short-legged type gained its own breeders and eventually became distinct, named after President Theodore Roosevelt. The United Kennel Club recognised it in 1999.
It is usually cheerful, sociable and eager for household attention. It learns quickly, especially when tasks are interesting and involve shared effort. It may announce new people or animals vocally and be reserved at first meetings. Small-game movement still readily interests it. Family attachment often appears through continual presence, playful readiness and lively reactions to events.
