Common stretch spider — size comparison — facts and sources

Tetragnatha extensa has a slender, elongated abdomen and very long, thin legs. It lives in damp, open places, often beside water, and is widespread in the Northern Hemisphere. Pale, silvery and brown markings change in appearance with the light.

It spins an orb web among vegetation, catching small insects moving between stems. When resting it extends its legs along a support, becoming less visible.

The eggs are protected by a silk sac placed beside a plant. Observations in the sources recorded around sixty to one hundred and fifty eggs in a single sac.
