Pink crab spider — size comparison — facts and sources

Thomisus onustus is a spider associated with warm, flower-rich sites in the Palaearctic. Adult females may be white, yellow or pink.

It waits on flowers and catches visiting insects. It does not need an extensive capture web: its powerful front legs hold prey against the petals. Such a hunter can seize even an insect larger than itself if it comes close enough to the hiding place.

A female's colour changes gradually over several days. This helps conceal her on a flower from both prey and predators.
