Pale sac spider — size comparison — facts and sources

Clubiona pallidula is a sac spider found on trees, shrubs and in sheltered corners.

It hunts actively, mainly after dark. It does not build an insect-catching web but searches for prey while moving over leaves and bark. By day it hides in a silk retreat, often placed in a crevice or between plant parts.

This retreat is also important during moulting and reproduction. The female protects her egg sac inside it. Similar sac spiders can be difficult to distinguish by colour alone; species identification considers structural details that a simple view of the outline does not reveal.
