Puggle (Pug × Beagle) — size comparison — facts and sources

Puggle denotes a Pug–Beagle cross. It usually has short hair, drooping ears and a fairly strong body. Its muzzle may be longer than a Pug’s, with forehead folds remaining. Some retain a more hound-like outline; others are shorter and heavier. Tail shape and colour also vary.

Its ancestry combines two different breeding traditions. The Pug has long been a companion, whereas the Beagle developed as a pack hound. The shared name describes their crossing, without one historical working specialisation or a closed population of uniform appearance.

Interest in people and willingness to join daily activities are often seen. Scents may nevertheless strongly attract it, with sniffing lasting longer than expected. Energy, independence and vocal tendencies differ between dogs. Parentage cannot predict whether an individual will focus more on people or surroundings.
