Prague Ratter — size comparison — facts and sources
The Prague Ratter is very small and lightly built with slender legs and large erect ears. It has expressive eyes and a head tapering towards the muzzle. Short black-and-tan hair is most familiar, but other colours and a longer-haired variety also occur. It moves quickly, lightly and nimbly.
The Czech name krysařík refers to rat control. Small dogs of this type also lived at courts and were gifted to other European rulers. They increasingly became primarily companions. Modern restoration began in 1980 by gathering and developing the surviving population of distinctive type.
It is usually curious, affectionate and strongly interested in familiar people. It readily accompanies daily activities but also quickly notices more distant movements or sounds. It may initially be reserved with strangers. With family it more readily shows relaxation, playfulness and initiative. Its reactions are rapid, and small events can instantly capture its entire attention.
