The scale compares the named dimensions. View direction and measurement points are given for each animal.
The Norwegian Lundehund is small and lightly built, with upright ears and a dense, moderately short coat. Unusual feet have at least six toes, and joints are exceptionally flexible. Forelegs can spread widely and ears can fold. These features helped on rocks and through narrow passages.
The breed developed on Norway’s coast for catching puffins in rock crevices, supplying birds where such resources mattered greatly. Changing puffin-harvesting methods sharply reduced demand. Surviving dogs from remote settlements provided the basis for rebuilding a very small population.
Lundehunds are usually active and inquisitive. They enjoy climbing, investigating corners and discovering what lies beyond obstacles. They respond attentively to sounds and objects and explore with initiative. They may be cheerful and affectionate with familiar people but slower with strangers. Agility accompanies ingenuity in reaching interesting places.
