Long-footed potoroo — size comparison — facts and sources
The long-footed potoroo has grey-brown fur with a paler underside and elongated hind feet. It is terrestrial and chiefly nocturnal. By day it rests beneath dense vegetation, including ferns and grasses.
Its main food is the fruiting bodies of underground fungi associated with tree roots. It extracts them with its forefeet, leaving conical hollows in the ground. Insects, seeds and other plant parts may supplement the diet.
