Black bearded saki — size comparison — facts and sources
The black bearded saki has a thick beard and lateral tufts of hair on its head. It lives socially in forest canopies and is active by day. While feeding, a larger group splits into smaller parties that move quickly between trees. Its long, bushy tail is not prehensile, although it helps support and balance the body.
Unripe seeds enclosed in hard fruits are particularly important food. Strong front teeth and jaw muscles allow it to open coverings that many other monkeys cannot manage. It usually walks and runs along branches on all four limbs, also using leaps.
